There are instances in our lives wherein we will probably need a notary public. As you will know a notary public is an official who witnesses the signatures of citizens on some specific documents, one who administers oaths being a representative of the state to ensure that the person himself actually signed the document, thus fraud can be prevented. Document signing and certification are the most common job of these professionals wherein he or she charges a fee depending on the kind of document to be signed. There are times when a notary public asks for additional charges if he is requested to travel to your house or office in order to sign, these are called mobile notary. But how to become a notary public is what we are going to talk about next. To start with there are some requirements that a person needs to comply with. The requirements vary from state to state. First of all, you must be 18 years of age, a bonafide resident of the state where you are going to do notarial jobs; you can then fill up an application form from the states notary commission or from the National Notary Association (NNA). This agency can give you up to date requirements for each state and a great career information for notary publics. Usually the state requires that you pay a filing fee when you apply for your commission, some will also require you to get a notary bond to protect the community from any liability or dishonesty incase of dishonest notary publics in the area. After complying with the requirements on how to become a notary public you will receive all the seals and necessary equipment for your notary business, you can now start to market your services to the people in your community. However, its not as easy as you think perhaps you are anticipating for big income by charging your clients so much .. bear in mind that the state is setting you limits on how much you can charge for each type of document you witness and each service you are performing. Some schools and colleges are holding seminars and workshops for notaries for various topics such as law, special circumstances and ethics. But then you can also avail of workshops given by private individuals usually done in hotels, ballrooms and public schools. Its all up for you to choose which workshop on how to become a notary public suits your needs.
